How to Become a Member
First step: Come to one of our meetings as a guest! Your first meeting doesn't cost anything, and is just meant for you to get an idea of whether or not the club is for you. To get an invite to a meeting, send an email to info@calgarymagic.com expressing your interest in attending a meeting.
If you enjoy the meeting and would like to become a full member of the club, you need to join both the International Brotherhood of Magicians, as well as the local Calgary Magic Circle. When you visit our meetings, we'll be able to help you with this part, and provide a membership form. Read more about IBM membership on the official website.
After you're an IBM member, you can become a member of our local Ring #66 so you can attend all the meetings and get big discounts on special events.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can anyone join?
- The club is open to all magicians, magician assistants, and magic hobbyists. When you register to join, you'll need the sponsorship of two members, to whom you'll need to demonstrate some level of interest and skill in magic.
- How much does membership cost?
- Membership to the IBM varies; typical membership is about $65USD for intial registration, then $50USD per year thereafter.
- Membership to the local club is $30CDN per year.
- Why do I have to pay two sets of member dues?
- The Calgary Magic Circle is a subsidiary of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. To join the local club, you must first be a member of the parent organization. Your member dues for IBM registration go to the IBM, and member dues for the local ring go the the Calgary Magic Circle
- Once I'm a member do I have to do anything?
- The club is non-profit, and is self-governed; as such, the club is completely dependent on the participation of members. As a member, you're expected to work together with everyone else to help run the club, assist in events, and have fun. If you just wanted to pay your membership dues and never help out, that'd be a lot like living someplace where you sit on your butt, expecting someone else to do the dishes and take out the garbage. Everyone pitches in at this club, to help each other develop the art of magic.
- Can I pay my local membership dues online?
- Why, yes you can! right here in fact!
- What a coinkydink! I have one right here.
